Ed Beem, a Maine-based arts writer, meditates on the Bowdoin art museum’s current show, Printmaking ABC: In Memorium David P. Becker, in a Yankee Magazine blog.

Beem has some personal connections with the exhibition, from his daughter who is currently taking a printmaking class at Bowdoin, to his recollections of the Leonard Baskin print show at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art in the 1960s. “When my daughter told me she was going to take a printmaking class, I dug out the 1969 etching of a hunchback that Baskin gave me when I visited him at his farm outside Northampton, Mass. and gave it to her,” Beem writes. In his post, Beem also remembers artist and former Bowdoin professor Tom Cornell, who died in December.
