As President Obama delivers his final State of the Union address, historians and political scientists discuss the president’s potential legacy on MPBN Radio’s call-in program, Maine Calling. Among them, Andrew Rudalevige, Bowdoin College’s Thomas Brackett Reed Professor of Government.

Rudalevige says Obama’s legacy “will remain somewhat polarizing,” with some people applauding his actions and others resenting them. “But,” he says, “no-one will be able to deny that he had a consequential impact on American politics long-term.”
